The Raw Carrot is a social enterprise that is self-sustainable – the sales of these gourmet, nutritious, locally-made soups fulfill the financial needs of the initiative – which in this case means funding the salaries of those working at the Raw Carrot.
The Peeling For Change program at The Raw Carrot hires individuals on the Ontario Disability Support Program to cook and package these handcrafted gourmet soups sold in farmers markets and retail locations in the local community. This organization provides meaningful employment and livelihood security to individuals on social assistance who want to, and can, work.
The ingredients are sourced locally as much as possible and recipes are created to be healthy, full of veggies, lean protein when possible, and free of any added preservatives.
